Last year, instead of the usual Christmas party, the Firefly Brigade  did a gift giving project to indigent families on wheels. Meaning, families living in karitons and pedicabs.  These are families that don’t get much attention from local politicos during Christmas since they aren’t voters. We sourced rice, canned goods, milk, noodles(chocolates and snacks for the kids) and other foodstuff. We then repacked them at our HQ in Kamias and distributed them a few days before Christmas on our bikes. Only so much Christmas bags could be carried by each biker, so a SAG (support and gear vehicle) was positioned in key meet-up points for us to refill our back packs and panniers. We were able to distribute more than a hundred packs around QC.

TWO ways you can help:

1. Drop-off your donations at the Firefly Brigade office at 169 Kamias Rd. Ext near cor Anonas St.(Bright Minds Tutorial Center) best before December 22. Donations can be rice(bigas), canned goods(sardines, tuna, corned beef, meat loaf), noodles milk, sugar, chocolate drinks, as well as chocolates, snacks & candies for kids.

Donations can also be in form of cash and we’ll be the ones to buy the goods. But we’d prefer donations in kind.

2. Be one of Santa’s elves and ride with us on December 22(Saturday) . We’ll be repacking the goods on 10:00am on Saturday morning so you can help in the packing. The gift giving ride will be at 3:00pm.

An entry fee of a minimum of 5 canned goods or two kilos of rice for those who will join the ride. Of course, we hope that you can donate more.
