Bike for Rights (B4R), the human rights cycling caravan that started in 1994, is one of the traditional flagship activities of Amnesty International Pilipinas’ (AIPH) week-long commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Usually held during the first Sunday of December as a kick-off to AIP’s human rights week celebration, this event gathers more than 500 cycling enthusiasts to deliver messages of human rights, justice and hope in a 3-hour journey around Metro Manila.

B4R has been participated by bike enthusiasts from all walks of life, rolling side by side at a controlled pace through a 78-km route in Metro Manila. Through the years, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Quezon City Government, the Quezon City Health Office, Pugad Lawin and the Cycling Advocates (CYCAD) have constantly provided valuable partnership and support in making each B4R a success.

After a year of hiatus, AIPH and Balay Rehabilitation Center will revive the cycling tradition to herald the 2007 Human Rights Week Celebration on the 9th of December 2007, 6 AM at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

With the theme ‘PadyaKARAPATAN Laban sa Torture‘ this year’s event will continue to bring human rights awareness in the country by demanding an end to the use of torture in the Philippines through a caravan of concerned cyclists.
