When I started to blog, all I wanted was to share my experiences about biking to work and how it has influenced my lifestyle. I have a heart condition that needs to be taken care of and biking is one way to maintain it healthy. I thought, perhaps there people out there who would be interested to know something about this and who knows, they would be encouraged too, to bike to work, or at least take up biking as either a recreational sport, or as a weekend physical activity.
As I came to read other blogs and know the authors behind them, I frequently saw payperpost badge that invites people to write what they love and get paid for doing so. Needless to say, I got interested and on one occasion while reading a particular blog, I decided to click on the link. I read as much as I could to understand what it offers and after considering its pros and cons, I finally clicked on the sign up button.
I was asked to provide the usual details. And after getting the tracking code, I installed it in my template. Notice was given that it would take about two days or so for the tracking code to be recognized and if I so wanted, I could use the tools provided. The approval of the blog itself would take about a week.
I completely forgot about my payperpost application until I received an email from them informing me of my blog’s approval. I have mixed reactions about it. I told myself that this is it - an opportunity to earn while doing something I love: biking and writing. But something inside me also gave a warning: I have to be careful and if I am not, I may end up losing my credibility and therefore, my readers.
One thing I am optimistic about is that I know blogging opens up a lot of opportunities, not only to earn financial rewards, but also to build up a circle of like-minded blogger friends who are there to support me.
