6. Don’t just watch, ride a bike. I used to be an “armchair biker”. Trails and century rides didn’t ring any bells when I heard those terms for the first time. A saddle was what cowboys used to mount horses. Yes, I knew how to ride a bike but the only memory of bikes I had was a near accident I went through when I rode a bike in high school. Years passed before I rode again, and only when my brother lent me his bike did I ride once more. Reading about bikes, hearing stories about bikers, seeing cyclists on the road, they are nothing if you don’t ride a bike yourself.

7. Be a nature tripper. If you already are but hate bikes, then you are missing a lot. Bikes could get you to places where no motorized vehicles are allowed, and these are places where you could commune with nature and God. There are nature parks where you can bike and when you get tired, you can rest under the cool shade of a tree. Mountain biking means nothing if you could not go up, well, a mountain to see how majestic the view is from there. But you need to respect nature as you wallow in its benevolence. As the popular refrain goes: Take Nothing But Photographs (and memories), Leave Nothing But Footprints, Kill Nothing But Time.

8. Get information about biking from Bike Advocacy Groups and join. These people love biking. They could talk about bikes the whole day and nothing else. Well, you could get bored of course, listening to their endless bauble about bikes, but certainly, they could infect you with the biker bug that you wouldn’t know what hit you.

9. “It’s not about the bike”. Lance Armstrong and his story could only be the best testimony for loving the bike.

10. Read my other post:10 Habits of a Happy Biker.” A happy biker makes for a happy friend, so let us all bike, be happy and become best of friends!

i love bike and love the feeling of fresh air flowing on my face while riding.

I think I’ll buy a mountain bike, hmmm, next year, and join my friends here in Hong Kong on weekend tours.

I had set my budget on SLR camera next month :)
    Thanks for this informative blog.

    Hi Tonychel,
I am always happy to hear people say that they love biking! Fresh air or even raindrops do make biking more exciting, specially if you go up the mountain on trail rides. Hope you can buy an mtb soon and ride it there, with the SLR camera slung on your shoulders.
