August 13, 2007The event: THE DOT 24 HOURS MOUNTAIN BIKE ENDURANCE CHALLENGE, held last Saturday to Sunday, August 11-12, 2007
The Participants: every mountain bike enthusiast, ready and fit to take the challenge.
The Outcome: I have yet to receive news because I wasn’t there!
The Reason: My heart - the medicine the doctor gave me is limiting my heartbeat to a mere 60 beats per minute or so, even when the demands would reach up to 120 beats/minute. I wished those whom I personally know good luck in the challenge. But I should have been there even as a mere mortal on the sidelines, a pity site to behold, while admiring the resolve of the participants to do even the minimum number of laps required.
Eric Reyes, Ricky Pineda and Boy Siojo, I am waiting for news from you. You who carried the banners of the Firefly Brigade, how did you do in the race? I hope you finished and fulfilled a dream for me! I salute you even if you will tell me you managed to do a few laps short of the minimum to be considered a finisher. I sure hope you two are finishers.

hello old friend! you got mail! sent you an email re snippets on the 24hour plus some updates. would’ve been great if you’d been there i must say.
ya, that was some race indeed! looks a lot easier (and enjoyable?) when youre watching from the comforts of the sideline though. was actually an “accidental” racer as boy & ricky originally intended to run solo & i was to join boy as his one-man-support crew!

HeatherD, indeed it’s frustrating and the meds are necessary. I am waiting for the time my heart would not need these meds anymore and then I’ll join every trail rides and races they’d have here…(I wish)…lol…
